VDP Group, a third-generation Italian cast iron foundry, exemplifies environmental stewardship by prioritizing eco-friendly practices and investing in low-impact technology. As an early adopter of Hypercube technologies, VDP became one of the first companies to generate water credits through advanced water reuse systems, applied across its cooling, molding, and product finishing processes.
In August, encouraged by the initial water credit revenue, the company took a decisive step to temporarily halt operations to enhance and expand these systems. This upgrade is projected to increase both the quality and volume of treated water, with over 6 million cubic meters expected annually, significantly reducing water withdrawal needs.
According to Jacopo Gerli, Hypercube Source Director, “This is a powerful example of how innovative solutions can create a win-win, marrying financial profitability with a commitment to environmental stewardship. It demonstrates that sustainable practices can be integrated into business models not only to protect natural resources but also to enhance long-term value and resilience in an evolving market. This version emphasizes the dual benefits of profitability and sustainability, while also suggesting broader impacts on resilience and value creation.”
This demonstrates the potential for proactive, environmentally conscious business leaders to drive the blue transition when provided with appropriate support and incentives.
