Hypercube is proud to announce the entry of Gruppo CAP, Italy’s leading public utility in water management, into its global ecosystem for water credit generation. As the first Italian utility—and one of the first in Europe—to adopt the WTR system, CAP is setting a new benchmark in the integration of sustainable finance and circular water practices.
CAP’s participation marks a significant step toward assigning economic value to every cubic meter of treated and reused water. Through Hypercube’s blockchain-based infrastructure, each verified volume of circular water will now be translated into 1 WTR token, enabling CAP to quantify, certify, and trade its environmental impact in full compliance with international ESG standards.
“With Gruppo CAP, a true pioneer in circular water management, we welcome a partner that embodies the mission of Hypercube: transforming technical actions into verified, traceable, and financially valuable contributions to climate resilience,”
said Pietro Gorgazzini, Managing Director of Hypercube.
This initiative stems from a groundbreaking project connecting the Bresso-Niguarda wastewater treatment plant to the irrigation systems of Parco Nord Milano. The €250,000 infrastructure investment has boosted the annual reuse capacity tenfold—from 50,000 to 500,000 cubic meters—allowing the park’s green areas to thrive using reclaimed water instead of groundwater.
“Reusing treated wastewater—and recognizing its value not only environmentally but also economically—is one of the most powerful levers to accelerate the ecological transition” said Michele Falcone, General Manager of Gruppo CAP.
“Through Hypercube’s water credit system, we are applying a real sustainable finance tool to water reuse, transforming a technical operation into an act of economic and social impact.”
Each WTR token generated will be publicly traceable, third-party verified, and accessible not only to corporations but also to citizens. Companies with high water footprints can now directly offset their impacts by purchasing WTR tokens, while part of the value generated will be reinvested into new environmental projects across the CAP territory, reinforcing its role as a true Green Utility.
With over 350 million m³ of treated wastewater annually—45.4% already reused—Gruppo CAP is rapidly turning its plants into circular bio-refineries, producing fertilizers, energy, and sustainable transformation at scale.
Hypercube celebrates this partnership as a signal of how climate tech and public utilities can work hand-in-hand to turn each drop of water into lasting value.
