A first-of-its-kind project to design the institutional future of water credits and bring the WTR token towards the standards required by traditional finance.
Hypercube SA, the Swiss tech company behind the Water Credit Token (WTR) and the Global Water Credit Standard (GWCS), has appointed UniCredit S.p.A. as its Sustainability Structurer for the design of a European Water Credit Sandbox — an experimental task force that will bring together elite sustainable-finance experts and the Hypercube team to define how water credits can be integrated into mainstream capital markets.
What the Sandbox is for
Under the engagement, UniCredit will work alongside Hypercube on:
- Venue design
- Financial product structuring
- Ecosystem building
The direction of travel is clear: aligning the WTR with the disclosure, governance and market-integrity standards that institutional investors expect, so that measured, recovered or positive-impact water outcomes can flow through the same channels as other sustainable-finance instruments.
“With growing international regulatory interest converging with real industrial adoption across corporate supply chains, we believe the time is right to bring the WTR into the capital markets. The WTR is intended to remain, a digital environmental instrument, but with the support of a leading European bank like UniCredit, we are convinced it is possible to design solutions, instruments and mechanisms capable of building investment-grade financial products on top of the WTR, elevating our founding principle of global liquidity for local impact.” Pietro Gorgazzini, Managing Director, Hypercube SA
